I was responsible for...
During this internship, I had the chance to learn multiple cake decorating techniques and build and decorate several wedding cakes. I also was able to work on desserts for several different occasions. Each week I was responsible for planning out my tasks for the week and making sure I had time to complete all of my orders.

I accomplished...
This summer I was able to develop several new recipes for Cache based on what direction my manager wanted to go. I also was able to build and decorate several tiered wedding cakes. Both of these tasks were large responsibilities that I was happy to be trusted with completing.

My most valuable effort...
The most valuable project I worked on was developing a protein muffin recipe. This project was great because I was forced to look at each ingredient that went into the muffins and think about the nutritional value of each ingredient. This practice will help me in the future when I am developing recipes for my own business some day.

I learned...
The most valuable learning experience came from my interactions with difficult customers. I learned to be more detailed oriented while working on those orders. I also learned how to be polite in my interactions with customers while still sticking to what was offered at the bakery.

I will never forget...
The most memorable experience I have from this summer was when I was trusted with my own wedding cake order. I was able to build a three-tiered cake and decorate it all on my own and that was very fulfilling after all of my hard work all summer.

A surprising discovery...
I was not expecting to do such large amounts of desserts. This was an important thing for me to do though because it helped me think about what I want to have when I open my business someday. I learned that I do not want to do large amounts of desserts, but rather put a lot of focus into smaller amounts of baked goods.

Advice for others...
I would advise those students to be patient and keep your focus on the end goal instead of the challenges that you are taking on right at the moment.

I first learned about this career-building experience from...
I worked at Cache Bake Shoppe during my senior year of high school and I was thrilled to be able to return there this summer.

I landed this assignment by...
I was able to talk to my manager at Cache and discuss what would be needed from both of us this summer.

I wanted this experience because...
I chose to return to Cache because I really enjoyed it when I worked there previously. Also, I hope to one day have a bakery of my own so I knew this would be a good place to start.
