Culinary Science Club team places 2nd at Iowa Pork Producers ‘Taste of Elegance’ competition

The high-placing Iowa State University team members — all majoring in culinary food sciences — included seniors Cristina Franco-Olevra and Sara Siebrecht and freshman Anna Sullivan. Eleven teams from four schools competed. Iowa State was the only contending school with a culinary food science degree program; the others have culinary arts programs. All teams prepared a dish using the pork belly cut. The Iowa State team prepared Crispy Herb-Braised Pork Belly with Leek Ricotta Cream, Acorn Squash Fries, and Fig-Cabernet Reduction.
