Exceptional Effort Awards recognize ingenuity of Human Sciences innovators Jacob Meyers, Amanda Bries, EFNP and SNAP education programs, CELT, more

From among 647 nominations, 52 individuals and teams have been recognized for extraordinary and innovative ways Iowa Staters have overcome the challenges of the pandemic. Among those in the College of Health and Human Sciences who were recognized are Jacob Meyer in kinesiology who received a Research Impact Award for transformative research into the behavioral and psychological associations of COVID-19-related alterations to society; Amanda Bries in food science and human nutrition, who earned a Graduate Student Research Impact Award for tireless efforts to support nutritional research and undergraduate student lab experiences; Expanded Food Nutrition Education Program and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in Human Sciences Extension and Outreach, honored with an Extension Impact Award for successfully transitioning food education programs to meet the needs of communities facing food insecurity during the pandemic; Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching, which received an Exemplary Team or Unit Effort Award for essential contributions to the efficient and effective shift of teaching and learning across campus. CELT is a university unit directed by Sara Marcketti, a professor in apparel, events, and hospitality management. Many additional College of Health and Human Sciences people contributed to other campus groups that received awards or nominations.
