ISU Dairy Products Evaluation team Geena Whalen, Sarah Hansen, Triadi Wisesa, Evan McCoy, Nicole Gaudino place fifth in national competition

The ISU Dairy Products Evaluation team placed fifth overall at the national Collegiate Dairy Products Evaluation Contest, April 18 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Team members included food science seniors Geena Whalen, Sarah Hansen, and Triadi Wisesa; alternate Evan McCoy, and graduate student Nicole Gaudino. The team placed fourth in yogurt and captured second place in cottage cheese judging. Additionally, Whalen placed fourth in ice cream judging. Hansen placed fourth in yogurt, third in cheddar cheese, and second in cottage cheese judging. Gaudino placed third and Wisesa placed fifth in cottage cheese judging. Whalen and Hansen were also honored with the two Joe Larson Merit Awards for their exemplary leadership and service. Chanyoung ‘Judy’ Lee, who trained with Iowa State’s team, represented her home school, Seoul National University. She placed fifth in yogurt judging.
