Six Iowa State University scholars honored at the annual Iowa Family and Consumer Sciences Educators conference
August 9, 2018The Iowa Family and Consumer Sciences Educators honored six Iowa State scholars at their annual conference in Ames on August 6. Brea Baumhover, a senior in family and consumer sciences education and studies, received the group’s Student of the Year award. Alumna Katie (Jaeschke) Brouwer (’15 FCEDS) was named Outstanding New Educator of the Year for her work as a middle school and high school teacher at Roland Story Schools. Alumna Dana Einck (B.S. ’99 Housing and the Near Environment, M.Ed. ’01 FCEDS) received the Educator of the Year award. Darlene Fratzke, student recruitment director in the College of Health and Human Sciences, was awarded the group’s Friends award for her service. Family and consumer sciences education and studies seniors Rebecca Wallace and Katie Walrod received scholarships from the organization.
