Responsibilities

As a college-aged contractor for Healthy Harvest of North Iowa I was responsible for creating and implementing a schedule of recipe demonstrations and cooking classes to be held around North Central Iowa. I was also expected to host live and recorded recipe demonstrations for local area farmers markets, events, and partner organizations, which included the selection of recipes, prepping recipes using local products, and serving samples to community members (as allowed with COVID).

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment with Healthy Harvest of North Iowa was having four recipe videos I created posted to their website and Facebook page!

Learning experience

The experience taught me so many valuable professional skills that I will carry with me as I enter the food industry. Most importantly I learned that if you work hard and keep and open mind, you might find guidance and new career interests along the way!

What advice would you give?

Take the opportunities that come your way! Even if an internship isn't exactly what you're looking for, taking a chance and learning new things might open your mind to new career paths you were previously unaware of!
