I was responsible for...
To help with any prep work for weddings including but not limited to assisting in the creation of escort cards, name tags, and flower walls, helping pull the needed decorations from the basement and loading them into the van. To help execute day off design for the weddings and events by setting the tablescapes and setting up the decorations. To help with the take down of decorations after the weddings have been completed. To help coordinate any weddings that I am asked to assist with, which includes helping the coordinator to make sure everything is in place for the wedding and assisting the coordinator in whatever they need to help the wedding run smoothly.
The most satisfying experience thus far for me has been assisting in coordinating the weddings. It is exhilarating to be given responsibilities that day and be responsible for their execution, knowing that you are helping make someone's wedding day everything they wanted.
One of the biggest lessons I have learned is that it is really important to stay calm while you are planning and executing a design and event. If you become to stressed out you affect everyone around you and the process is not a seamless. There will always be incidents and there will always be ways to work through them and staying calm is essential to getting through any issues you may find yourselves facing.
Advice for others...
My advice is to take advantage of every work situation. Be around for every set up and tear down that you can, try to sit in on meetings, and go to any extra activities they may have because each one is different and each offers a new learning experience.
