I developed recipes using Burke Corporation's fully cooked pizza toppings. I researched food trends to develop concepts for recipe ideas. I assisted in preparation for food show sampling and customer visits. I performed general clerical tasks, report formatting, and data entry.
My greatest accomplishment during my internship was creating two pizzas, one soup, and one Bloody Mary using Burke Corporation's fully cooked pizzas. These recipes were sampled at the Institute of Food Technologist's annual food expo in Las Vegas, Nevada.
I learned not to take criticism personally. The people that I worked with had monthly intern reviews to establish areas that need improvement and areas that I excel at. Constructive criticism is important to further our skills and careers.
Advice for others...
Show passion and excitement for your chosen field. You can research concepts you do not fully understand but you cannot fake passion or excitement.
