My responsibilities included: seasoning and cooking food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience. -Baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods. -Observing and testing foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils. -Ensuring food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.
My greatest accomplishment is the knife skills I gained in the kitchen. I went in knowing almost nothing, and I came out with so much more knowledge.
My greatest lesson learned is to always ask for help. If I don't understand something or don't know the best way to do something, there was always someone who was willing to help.
Advice for others...
Make sure you're always building your network. There are people all around you who could help you succeed in the future so make sure you're showing up, giving 100%, and putting your name out there.
