As one of the department’s strategic areas of excellence, community education for health and food safety aims to promote healthy systems, people, and communities.
Human Sciences Extension and Outreach provides research-based information and education to help families make decisions that improve their lives. As the outreach arm of the College of Human Sciences, faculty and staff work together with specialists located across Iowa’s 99 counties to translate university research to practice for local individuals, families, employers, and communities.
Much of Iowa’s economy thrives on rich agricultural heritage and Agriculture and Natural Resources Extension and Outreach plays an important role in providing research-based information and resources to educate Iowa’s farmers, producers and agribusinesses. The programs impact all Iowans, whether they live in a rural or urban area, and have been developed to improve our quality of life.
